Scallop Imaging, Boston, Mass., recently debuted its new Digital Window surveillance camera head that delivers 7-megapixel resolution and a wide view without the distortion you'd get from wide-angle or fisheye lenses. The device instantly stitches together the output of five low-resolution sensors and lens modules to create a high-resolution, seamless 180-degree-wide image in real time. In this AIE Imaging Executive podcast, at www.imagingexec.com, Ellen Cargill, director of product development with Scallop Imaging, tells The Future Image Report Editor Paul Worthington how the technology was created. In the interview Cargill also discusses how the technology might improve all kinds of imaging, from surveillance to landscape photography, with improved dynamic range, realistic resolution, and wider views.
